Dear Members,
I thought I would begin this month’s update by reiterating the appeal I made last month for volunteers to come forward and join the Dee4Life board. At the risk of sounding like Lord Kitchener – your supporters’ group most definitely needs you!!!

Two of the current board, myself included, are stepping down and we have lost two other board members in recent months. Quite simply, we need new people to come forward if we are going to be able to keep the D4L running as an active group. We received a few expressions of interest following last month’s update and our post on the fans’ forum and we are speaking to one or two people but we need more people if the board is to function fully and be able to take on the various tasks required to operate D4L effectively.
Skills sought
First and foremost we are looking for people who are avid fans of Dundee FC and who are willing and able to put in a few hours of voluntary work a month. We are looking for a range of skills in areas such as chairing meetings, overseeing the accounts, social media, communications and administering databases but equally we are keen to hear from people who simply want to do their bit in whatever way suits them best. I would like to reassure you that it does not require much time between monthly board meetings and even the roles of chairman or treasurer are not overly demanding. If we have a good cross-section of people on the board we can divide tasks more efficiently and evenly and keep the work to a minimum for any individual director.
So if you feel you have something to offer please don’t be shy and get in touch with us at contact@dee4life.com.
Crunch time
On the field we are now very much at the crux of the season. The team are continuing to battle away and were unfortunate to concede a late winner against Celtic at home in the 2-1 defeat. The upturn in performances against the Old Firm this season has been welcome and it would have been quite something to make it two home wins over Celtic in a season. Hopefully that is something the team can build on if they secure their top flight status next term. Falling behind twice against a resurgent Kilmarnock was not ideal for a crunch match but Steven Pressley’s men again showed real resilience to bounce back both times to secure a 2-2 share of the spoils. Perhaps if Joe Westley hadn’t had to wait several minutes for VAR to get its act together then the outcome of his added time penalty would have been different. Three points instead of one would have been a significant step toward Scottish Premiership survival but at least the team can take confidence into the post-split fixtures.

The final derby of the season across the road will get the mini-campaign underway in challenging fashion but three home games from the remaining five has to be a boost for the players and the fans. With a five point lead over Kilmarnock it has to be hoped that the team can secure enough points from the visits of St Mirren, Livingston and Aberdeen, alongside whatever they can take on the road against the other lot and Kilmarnock themselves, to avoid the dreaded play-off place.
It goes without saying that all at D4L wish the players, the head coach and the entre staff the very best for the remainder of the season. Let’s hope we can achieve safety with something to spare and not have to go down to the last match of the season once again!
