Dee4Life update – February 2026

Dear Members,

Hope springs eternal – so the saying goes – but if you’re a Dundee fan it’s more a case of brief periods of flow followed by sustained dribbling and sputtering. After a fantastic team performance in the Scottish Cup tie at Parkhead, which came so close to achieving a memorable victory that was only undone with added time, we were brought back down to earth with a disappointing defeat at Falkirk and a draw that felt like a defeat after throwing away an early two-goal lead at home to Livingston.

The eternal part kicked in though with a dramatic 3-2 win away to Aberdeen, the first victory at Pittodrie in 22 years, and suddenly the picture brightened again. There are some clear signs of improvement with a few of the players really starting to show they can compete in the premiership. The cushion from the three wins at the turn of the year had eroded before Ethan Hamilton’s second rocket strike in recent weeks but Dundee are managing to keep their noses in front of St Mirren and Kilmarnock in the race to stay out of the play-off place. While any win over Aberdeen has to be savoured, the slow start to the match was concerning and the penalty and red card were clearly pivotal. Head Coach Steven Pressley will know that they have to find more consistency and resilience to get themselves out of the relegation battle.

SGM reminder

Turning to Dee4Life business, I would like to remind all members that we have a Special General Meeting coming up at 11am for 11.30am on Saturday, 28 February at the Dundee Social Club, Thistle Street, DD3 7RF.

The meeting has been arranged to consider proposed updates to Dee4Life’s rules and to review the organisation’s strategy. The meeting papers can be viewed by clicking the links below:

I would encourage you to attend if at all possible and to exercise your voting rights as a member. It really is hugely important for us to hear your views and for you to play your part in shaping Dee4Life’s future. There will be tea and coffee and biscuits on offer if you need any further incentive to come along!

Positive discussions

I’m delighted to report that we have enjoyed some very positive recent discussions on off-the-field matters. Dundee FC’s Supporters’ Liaison Officers Billy Douglas and Kris Scrimgeour joined our most recent board call and gave us an update on positive developments behind the scenes at Dens and Gardyne.

They have been really heartened by the welcome they have received from the club and the fans and reported some good progress in a number of areas such as repairs to some parts of the stadium infrastructure, continued improvements to the playing surface, repairing the stadium phone system, engaging with young fans and the Foundation regarding funds for youth development and the £10 ticket offer at the Livingston game among other things. Both Billy and Kris are in regular contact with SLO’s at other clubs and said that their experience is much more positive than that of many of their counterparts.

We discussed ways in which Dee4Life could support the club such as encouraging members to assist with some of the improvement work going at Dens.

DSA meeting

We also had a positive meeting with the Dundee Supporters’ Association (DSA) and among the topics discussed was working together with the club to support the Community Trust and the Foundation. There were useful conversations on what other clubs are doing and what we can all learn from St Johnstone’s fan engagement strategy and charter. It was recognised that there are positive developments at the club which many fans are not aware of and the club’s recent recruitment advertisement for a Communications Manager suggests this is an area of focus for them.

One less positive thing to note is that there was nothing relating to the new stadium proposal on the agenda for the February meeting of Dundee City Council’s planning committee so the uncertainty continues.

I will close by wishing Steven Pressley and the team the very best in an important run of fixtures before the league split. An encouraging transfer window closed with some useful additions in the shape of defender Lewis Montsma and winger Scott Wright but was slightly undermined by the lack of a recognised striker coming in beyond the young Mexican Aldahur Valenzuela. It was good to see the Captain Simon Murray back among the goals against Livingston and Aberdeen. It has to be hoped, that word again, that it will spark a run of goals for the captain in the latter stages of the season. More sharpness up front will be key to the club’s efforts to stay up this season.

Dee4Life update – January 2026

Dear Members,

It’s always nice to send the old year out with a flourish and bring in the new one with a bang and Dundee certainly did that as 2025 became 2026. Hard fought wins over Falkirk and Kilmarnock heralded significantly improved and more enterprising performances from the players before the New Year derby at Tannadice saw arguably the best performance this season in overcoming the lot across the road.

On-field optimism

It wasn’t just the fact that they won with an excellent finish from a much-improved Ashley Hay but that they created at least six good chances to score and really should have been one or two more to the good at the final whistle. It was fantastic to hear Dundee fans singing and celebrating once again after what has been more of an attritional than a transitional season so far. Steven Pressley and his players deserve credit for digging so deep to find an extra 20% when they needed it the most.

Nine points radically altered the club’s league position and gave them a platform to build on in staying clear of Kilmarnock, now managed by former Dens pair Neil McCann and Billy Dodds, and Livingston. A narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Hearts, where they were denied by THAT save from Craig Gordon, was followed by a tricky Scottish Cup tie away to Kilmarnock. Despite falling behind, the team once again showed their growing resilience to bounce back and secure a place in the fifth round with a Drey Wright winner in added time. A stubborn but unadventurous performance at Ibrox coupled with a late collapse, which has been sadly all too familiar in recent seasons, summed up a 3-0 defeat to Rangers.

Image: Sean Dee Photography

A huge determinant of where Dundee go from here in the remainder of this season will be the level of activity in the transfer window and it has been good to see some solid activity. Young winger Joe Bevan was signed from Burnley and was joined at Gardyne by defender Brad Halliday from Bradford on a two-and-a-half year contract and young midfielder Joel Cotterill from Swansea. The Club appear to be investing to try to secure their top league status and it has to be hoped there will be a few more arrivals. Certainly the revenue benefits of staying up will more than make up for any additional outlay.

Off-field matters

Off the field, things have been a little mixed. There was no sign of any application going before Dundee City Council Planning Committee’s January meeting. We also saw the publication last month of the SFA’s club licensing data which is based on four criteria – ground, first team, youth, legal/admin/finance. The Club was ranked bronze on ground alongside only one other SPFL team and several championship teams and on a par with Linlithgow Rose. They were ranked silver on first team (training/medical facilities etc) on a par with Dunfermline and Ross County and silver on youth on a par with Morton and Inverness Caley Thistle. Lastly they were ranked bronze on legal/admin/finance on a par with Arbroath and Cumbernauld Colts for example. All of this makes for worrying reading and suggests there is a lot of work to be done in a number of areas.

Elsewhere, there were some positive moves including the £10 offer for the Livingston match and subsidised buses to Kilmarnock for the cup tie. And Mr Nelms finally gave an interview, albeit a soft one, to the local media. This is to be welcomed but we feel that there are still many questions that fans and our members would like answered and would continue to urge the Club to be more communicative and transparent.

Special General Meeting

Turning to D4L matters, we are calling a Special General Meeting for Saturday, 28 February at 11am for 11.30am at the Dundee Social Club. The purpose of the meeting is to consider some updates to D4L’s rules and to review its strategy. We would encourage as many members to attend and exercise their voting rights as possible.

I have included a link to the Minutes from our AGM in November for reference. Please click here (member login required).

We are also currently on the lookout for a new treasurer following Grant MacGregor stepping down from the board. If you feel you would like to get involved and join the board please contact us at contact@dee4life.com.

I will close by wishing you all the very best for a prosperous and enjoyable 2026! Let’s hope this is the year in which Dundee secure their top league status and address the various off-field issues!

Dee4Life update – September 2025

Dear Members,

The uncertain start to the season continues for Dundee as the newly compiled team tries to bed in while off field matters continue to be shrouded in mystery. The desperate disappointment of a derby defeat was hard to stomach but the seeming lack of attacking endeavour compounded the misery for the Dark Blue faithful. We have had to suffer many defeats to the other lot over the years but few where it has seemed so flat both in terms of performance and atmosphere in the home end. The fact that home tickets did not sell out suggests that pricing is becoming an issue as well as the quality of the fan experience at Dens. Whatever the reason, it did not really feel like a derby and that is perhaps as much of a worry for all concerned as the result itself.

Fan frustration

The pattern of lower attendances continued with the Motherwell game which saw a drop of 1,200 on the last visit of the Steelmen. To the players’ and head coach’s credit they bounced back from a poor first half performance to secure a draw against Motherwell following the international break. There was some grit and fighting spirit on show in the second half which was certainly needed to get them back into the game and to get the home fans behind them. It wasn’t pretty but they hung in there and showed some resilience after the late, and harsh, sending off of Yan Dhanda in particular. Still three points from three draws is not a great tally from the first five games and they will have to get a win or two on the board soon if they are to move clear of the relegation zone. Even this early in the season it is important to build some momentum and draws are not enough.

The presence of Luke Graham has been one area of optimism for Dundee fans. Image: Sean Dee Photography.

We have heard many fans expressing their disappointment at the lack of activity toward the end of the transfer window despite the head coach Steven Pressley making it clear that he felt a few more players were needed. The lack of Scottish Premiership experience in the squad has to be a concern and while we have to hope that some of the new players will succeed in making the transition it is clearly going to be a step up for a good number of them. Doubts also persist in key areas of the park including in goal, midfield and up front but ironically, given how things went in the last two seasons, it is the back line which is giving the most reason for optimism, especially the form of Luke Graham. The young centre-half notched his first top flight goal against Motherwell and showed up well for the Scotland U-21’s. He already looks as if he is going to be a key figure this season.

Burnley link-up?

Another question which fans have been asking is what has happened to the much vaunted partnership with Burnley. After a succession of loan deals for some undoubtedly talented young players from Turf Moor in the last two seasons, the well has suddenly run dry with no explanation coming from the Club. With attacking flair apparently in short supply, now would be a good time to attract a few players north. At the same time the partnership with CF Monterrey in Mexico appears to have stalled. Victor Lopez was allowed to return home to Queretaro without really having had the chance to make an impact and Cesar Garza is struggling to gain a first team place despite the departure of almost all of the first choice midfield from last season. Once again fans would appreciate hearing from the Club on these issues so they can at least have a clearer understanding of what’s going on.

SLOs meeting

On a more upbeat note, we were delighted to meet the Club’s new Supporters’ Liaison Officers, Billy Douglas and Kris Scrimgeour, who joined our recent Board Teams call. Both Billy and Kris are Dees through-and-through and shared some of their fondest memories of going to matches with our directors. We value their knowledge and experience of all things Dundee and look forward to working with them in the months and years to come. We wish them all the very best in their roles and will do everything we can to assist them. If there are issues you would like us to raise with them on your behalf please email contact@dee4life.com.

I will close by wishing the players and the coaching staff the very best for a busy and challenging run of fixtures in the next few weeks, starting with the visit of Livingston.

Best wishes,

Keith Winter
Chairman.

Members’ update – March

What a difference a derby victory can make!

Just as things were starting to look really ominous with the spectre of a relegation battle looming large, Dundee pulled out a win for the ages with a comprehensive triumph over the other lot at Tannadice.

The spirit, desire and dogged determination which we have all been searching for suddenly appeared in abundance on a beautiful Sunday. The 4-2 win probably should have been even more comfortable and the players showed that they can still turn on the style.

Everyone played their part in an excellent team display with inspirational performances from a number of them including big Joe Shaughnessy at the back, two-goal Jordan McGhee and, of course, that man Simon Murray. If ever there was a team that needed a spark to reignite their season it was Dundee and surely this result will give them a huge confidence boost going into three difficult games before the split. I know many of us have been hugely frustrated by the slump in form and results since the turn of the year but now we can look forward with some optimism and belief that we can turn this predicament around. I’m sure we will all give the team as much backing as we can for the run-in, starting with the visit of Rangers on March 29.

Another silver lining in what has been a challenging period for the Club is the fact that we can now look forward to a Cup Final at Hampden. While sadly the senior team did not make it past their Scottish Cup quarter-final with Hearts at Tynecastle, it has been hugely encouraging to see the achievements of the under-18’s team in reaching the Scottish Youth Cup Final. Scott Robertson’s young team produced a strong performance to overcome St Mirren on their home patch with a 2-0 win in front of 1,400 fans. They will now face Kilmarnock in the final at the national stadium with the dates still to be confirmed. I’m sure there will be many of you who will take the opportunity to cheer the Dark Blues on in a national final and we wish Scott and the team all the very best.

Off the field, there does not seem to be much happening, at least publicly, around the new stadium project or the proposed training facility at Riverside. There was no submission to the last meeting of Dundee City Council planning committee and it is concerning for fans when there is no news and the situation appears to be dragging on. We appreciate the Club has a lot on its plate at the moment and the focus must be on Premiership survival but it would be good to hear a little more on how things are actually progressing.

Turning to our D4L prize draw, I am delighted to confirm that this month’s winner is Vincent Brady from Dundee. Eight-year-old Vincent, who joined Dee4Life in 2023, receives £30 worth of vouchers for the club shop. We would ask Vincent’s parent or guardian to email us at contact@dee4life.com so we can arrange delivery of his vouchers. Congratulations Vincent!

I will close by wishing Tony Docherty and the team the very best for the seismic upcoming matches they are facing. We have been here before as a Club and as fans and, to continue the silver lining theme, we know what it’s going to take to get out of this.

Who’s to say we can’t pull off another great escape?

Best wishes,
Keith Winter

Dee4Life members’ update – July

Dear Members,

The summer break can often drag on for us football fanatics but the Euro’s have partially helped fill the void. Whilst the football on show could certainly be described as cautious, it was fitting that the team that consistently played, open, attacking football lifted the trophy. Viva Espana!

Back to Dark Blue matters. We were delighted that DFC won the race to sign Simon Murray and are appreciative of the significant commitment the Club made to secure his signature. We understand that more signings are imminent and our wish list would include extended contracts for Luke McCowan and Lyall Cameron.

It was good to recommence competitive football again with the group stages of the League Cup. A fine, dominant 7-1 win away to Bonnyrigg Rose, followed with another good win at a notoriously tricky venue saw us off to a great start.

We were due to host our first home game of the season against Annan Athletic on the newly improved pitch surface however the Club has decided that the pitch will benefit from additional time to settle and have announced both “home” League Cup ties will be hosted at Brechin.
The first game at our temporary home, along with results elsewhere, booked our place in the last 16 of the competition, with a game in hand. It’s fantastic to see the team strive on the pitch.

Whilst we support the Club’s decision to ensure the pitch is in the best condition possible for the start of the League campaign it is disappointing that fans will be left out of pocket due to additional travel expense. It would be a positive gesture from the Club to either offer subsidised supporters’ buses or reduced entrance prices to these matches.

We will just have to wait a little longer for the first match of 24/25 at The Kilmac Stadium and the launch of the e-ticketing system. The first home game at “Dens” is one of the most eagerly awaited matches for many Dees being the first chance to see the many new signings on home turf.

The aim of the Dee4Life Board for 24/25 is to improve our relationship with the Club so as to help increase engagement and enhance communication between the Support and Club on matters such as the temporary move to Brechin. We remain positive about the general direction of travel but remain committed to achieving greater fan involvement.

Whilst the board was enhanced by the addition of Mike Woodcock in June, sadly I have to report that Norrie Price has opted to step down as a director to focus on another project.

Norrie Price
Norrie Price

We thank Norrie for the great commitment shown to Dee4Life in his six years on the board, which included a two-and-a-half year spell as Chair.
He remains very much a Dark Blue diehard and we look forward to his continued contribution and support as a Dee4Life member.

Best wishes,
Keith Winter,
Chair.

Dee4Life members’ update

With the team performing better than we have seen in sometime, notwithstanding some poorer results recently, the new stadium proposals, with the Planning Permission in Principle application now submitted, and the recently announced partnership with Burnley, there is a lot of excitement around the Dundee support just now.

The Burnley link is particularly intriguing to me as I spent several years living in the Lancashire town. My wife and I still have friends down there, and I was last at Turf Moor earlier this season. It is a fantastic club from a great part of the world, and I hope that this partnership delivers for all parties.

The Dee4Life board is obviously delighted by the prospect of Dundee taking steps forward on and off the park but – as I outlined last month – the founding principes of the Trust mean we must always ask questions about developments, even those that appear exciting and potentially transformative.

With that in mind, we have submitted a series of questions (see below) relating to the stadium development. I hope that the club takes the time to consider these and provides answers that will go some way to addressing the concerns that members tell us they still have about the Camperdown plan.

At our November AGM we agreed to hold a follow up meeting in the first quarter of 2024, and I can confirm that this will take place on the evening of Monday 18 March. Following on from another suggestion, this will be online to allow a wider selection of members than usual to attend. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible then. Further details, including how members can join the meeting, will follow in our next update.

Ahead of that discussion, we want to gauge the views of members about how the Trust and the club and to find out a bit more about you and how we can best represent you. To this end, we have compiled a short survey which members will find in their email inbox. I would be most grateful if you could take a few minutes to fill in before the end of February.

Thanks for your time and I am hopeful February gives us more league points.

Regards
Keith Winter, Chair

Questions submitted to the Dundee FC board via club SLO John Burke:
1. When will the full planning application likely be submitted? Or any submissions required by the grant of the current PPIP under any attached conditions, notably suspensive conditions?

2. Is the target of football being played in the new stadium by summer 2025 still valid given the fact that planning permission in principle still has to be determined?

3. What are the phasing arrangements for the delivery of the elements contained in the development mix? Will the football facilities be included in the first phase or is the stadium contingent on the successful delivery of the other, revenue-generating elements?

4.Will Dundee FC own the stadium? If not, will the rental terms be set at a commercial rate or on other terms, such as a set percentage of the club’s turnover?

5. If the club is not to own the stadium, will the club pay more in rent than the current arrangements at Dens Park?

6. The ONS notes that private commercial construction costs have risen by around 30% in the past seven years, including approximately 14% since December 2021. Interest rates have risen significantly in this time too. How has all this impacted on the affordability of the project?
What protections are in place for the club should DBPH experience financial difficulties that prevent the project from being delivered, or the company to cease trading?

7. Records from the Land Registry suggest that both the Camperdown site and Dens Park have been used as security against loans obtained from the Soho Green finance company. Is this correct, what has this finance been used for and have the loans been repaid? What guarantees can be given that Dens Park will not be lost if repayments are not met?

8. Is finance in place for the new stadium development and is this in the form of investment or lending? If it is the latter, are the club liable for repayments of this?

9. Whilst the planning application process and subsequent development takes place what are the arrangements and investments planned for Dens Park?

10. In any delay on delivery of the Camperdown proposal what is the strategy and practical arrangement for the continuing use and operation of Dens Park over each of say 3, 5, 7-year periods or indeed indefinitely?

11. Should planning permission be refused or should the development fail to materialise for any other reason, what is the club’s Plan B position?

Dee4Life New Year members’ update

Dear members,

Happy New Year and I hope you had a great festive period with family and friends.

The past month has brought both the exhilaration of late goals at Dingwall and Kilmarnock and the disappointment of the Aberdeen and St Johnstone postponements.

With regards to the latter, we know from correspondence from members how frustrating you have found the situation. Accordingly, we have written to the club’s Supporter Liaison Officer to try and better understand the underlying issues with the pitch and to offer any practical support we can to minimise the risk of future call offs. In this letter, we also reiterated our long-standing offer to support the introduction of eticketing at Dens Park.

December’s other major talking point was the new stadium image and additional details about the project released by the club. This has rightly generated a great deal of excitement and discussion amongst Dundee fans, and we welcome the stated commitment to ongoing consultation with supporters as the project develops. It was also reassuring to hear John Nelms restate that interim groundsharing is unlikely to be required.

The Dee4Life board has always believed this project could be transformative for Dundee but are also wary of any risks to the club and hope these concerns are fully addressed either in the forthcoming planning application in principle or as part of the related consultation.

20 years of Dee4Life

2024 marks the 20th anniversary of Dee4Life and I want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the dozens of fans who have served on the Trust board in that time as well as the countless volunteers who have given up their own time to help ensure that the club has survived some of the most turbulent times in its history.

As you all know, Dee4Life arose from the incredible efforts of fans to save the club from liquidation back in 2003/04. The time and effort given by the Trust’s founders to galvanise fundraising efforts, attend interminable meetings and help prove Dundee was worth fighting for was incredible and all Dundee supporters owe them a debt of gratitude.

When the Dark Blues entered administration for the second time, the astonishing effort of fans – combined with the sacrifices of directors, staff and players – saved our beloved club once more. Dee4Life officials, volunteers and members had again given so much of themselves while asking for nothing in return and these efforts enabled Dundee to exit administration as a supporter-owned club.

The following two years were not without their difficulties, but no one should be in any doubt about how hard those running the club worked in difficult circumstances or that every decision was made according to what they believed was in the best interests of the club. Ultimately, they kept Dundee FC alive until a viable alternative appeared.

When we Dee4Life members voted to sell our majority shareholding to the club’s current owners we did so after the-then Trust board negotiated entrenched rights designed to protect the future of the club we all love.

The Trust’s fortunes have waxed and waned over the years, but dedicated fans continued to give up their own time to keep Dee4Life alive out of a belief that an independent fans’ voice is not only important but vital. We now mark our 20th anniversary with a growing membership and a determination amongst the current board to ensure that the views of all fans are heard at a pivotal time for our club.

The issue of an ageing stadium with limited commercial potential has plagued successive Dundee owners for decades. As well as acknowledging the stability brought by the current owners, we appreciate the scale of their ambitions. In our view, the best-case scenario is for the Camperdown development to succeed as envisaged. However, we must also be mindful of any situation that might put the club at risk again and seek all and any assurances that this project will not do this.

Custodianship of our entrenched rights is a responsibility that the Dee4Life board takes very seriously. The Trust was formed to not only fight the short-term threat to the club that existed back in January 2004 but to ensure that it would always have a future. That is why we must continue to ask questions about the health and direction of Dundee FC, even if doing so is not always universally popular.

Once again, I thank past and present Dee4Life directors, members, volunteers, donors and friends for everything they have done over the years. I hope that we can all look forward to a happy and prosperous 2024, on and off the park.

Regards,
Keith Winter (Chair)

Help Dee4Life hit 500 and win sponsored matchball

Dear Dundee supporter,

Following our day of action at Saturday’s game, the Dee4Life membership now stands just shy of 500. This is the highest the figure has been for almost a decade but is still below where we want to be.

I want to welcome our new members to the fold and to thank existing members for their ongoing support. I would also like to ask the non-members among you to consider joining and supporting our efforts.

Dee4Life were the matchball sponsor at the Kilmarnock game (with four of our members randomly selected to enjoy the hospitality places we received) and we will be raffling this off to members this week.

Dee4Life competition winners in the Legends Lounge hospitality suite with Joe Shaughnessy and Malachi Boateng.
Dee4Life competition winners in the Legends Lounge hospitality suite with Joe Shaughnessy and Malachi Boateng.

All supporters who sign up by 5pm on Wednesday will join existing members in the draw to win the signed ball that was presented to our party after Saturday’s game.

Over the past year we have raised a number of issues with the club that members have brought to us. These include maintenance of Dens Park, entry issues, disabled parking and access, the way season ticket sales were handled, the 1893 Foundation and tannoy problems.

We supported Community Trust initiatives, helped connect the club with tradespeople willing to carry out maintenance work at Dens, and have put several thousands pounds into the club in the form of sponsorship and advertising.

We have handed out thousands of flyers at games and have greatly improved our relationship with the Dundee Supporters Association. We offered to subsidise memberships for the relaunched Junior Dees to help families during the cost-of-living crisis and our long-standing offer to support the introduction of eticketing remains on the table.

One of the Dee4Life advertising boards we have pitchside at Dens.
One of the Dee4Life advertising boards we have pitchside at Dens.

We recently took out two advertising hoardings at Dens and sponsored the South East Section’s first Tifo in order to attract a younger membership. We have been more active on social media, in addition to making the updates we send to members available to all fans via these channels.

Dee4Life are the club’s second largest shareholder and custodians of the A shares purchased with money raised by Dundee supporters. That means we have a responsibility to work on behalf of the entire fanbase so want to be as representative as possible by ensuring our membership is as broad as possible.

Our primary focus has been to establish a formal framework for fan representation with the club and to have the board address the concerns that our members have raised around the new stadium development. This has been a lengthier and more complicated process than we envisaged and we will be providing a comprehensive rundown of these efforts in our next monthly update.

What is clear is that the more members we have, the stronger the fan voice is so if you are a non or former member, please consider joining for just £10 a year. And if you do so before Wednesday, you have the chance to win the ball signed by the Dundee squad.

For existing members, please encourage family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances – anyone you’ve ever heard express sympathy for DFC basically! – to sign up.

Let’s hit 500 this week and keep growing from there.

Entry issues, tannoy system, stadium maintenance – update

Dear members,

I spoke with DFC General manager Greg Fenton last week to discuss several issues that members have raised with us. I have summarised these, and Greg’s responses, below.

As we outlined in our recent partnership proposal, we want to work with the club to resolve issues as well as raising them. Our proposed next steps are outlined in italics.

A section of the Dundee support in the Bobby Cox Stand at the Motherwell game. Image: Derek Gerrard Photography.

Tannoy system

Several members were concerned that the South Enclosure tannoy system that has been inaudible for several seasons is now a bigger issue given the need for VAR updates.

Answer – the club invested in the SE tannoy in the summer and are monitoring the situation to test for its effectiveness.

We have received mixed feedback from the Motherwell game, with some fans reporting an improvement and others noting no change. We have offered to liaise with the company that DFC use to see what further options there are to improve the tannoy system and to potentially fund any improvement.

    Ticketing

As we shared with you at the start of the month, we have been discussing this longstanding complaint of fans with the club, have proposed temporary solutions and have offered to support the introduction of eTicketing.

Answer – the club felt the new collection booth worked well in reducing club shop queues prior to the Motherwell match and are considering additional resources that would make it quicker and more convenient for fans to purchase and collect tickets.

Our offer of support remains in place and we are happy to explore any other ideas members might have.

    Condition of South Enlosure seats

Dee4Life directors and members reported finding broken and dirty seats upon arriving at the Motherwell match.

The condition of some of the seats in the South Enclosure prior to the first game of the season.

Answer –  all seats were cleaned in the days prior to the opening match of the season and stained and/or broken ones have now been removed, with replacements in place for the Hearts game.  Seats in the areas worst affected by bird droppings are covered until 1pm pre-match.

As the club only has covers for a fraction of the total number of seats we are looking at whether we can fund more.

    General stadium maintenance

Members expressed disappointment at finding old signs, bottles, cones and general debris upon arriving at the ground last week.

Answer – the club would appreciate any support to help clean up articles that litter the ground.

Earlier in the summer we helped connect the club with tradespeople willing to help out with stadium maintenance and we are liaising with individuals and other groups to see what further assistance we might collectively provide.

In addition, we were also asked to contact the club by a member regarding concerns about disabled access following on from the new parking restrictions introduced by the local authority. We thank DFC Disability Access officer Declan Gall for providing a speedy response confirming that disabled parking places for supporters are available on Provost Road and North Isla Street.

Any members who would like to provide their own feedback or raise any issues they’d like raised with the club then please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing contact@dee4life.com.

    Regards,
    Kenny Valentine,
    Dee4Life Director

    Dee4Life – Monthly Update

    Dear members,

Another season is upon us, and we look forward to seeing the Championship flag raised at Dens Park on Saturday. On behalf of the Dee4Life board, I would like to wish Tony Docherty and his players and staff all the best of the Premiership campaign ahead.

With a bumper crowd expected for the Motherwell match, we hope not to see any repeat of the lengthy queues at the club shop and turnstiles that have been a regular feature over the past year. This is the issue that members have contacted us about most frequently and we appreciate that work, family, and other commitments mean fans are often unable to purchase and collect tickets in advance or to turn up some time ahead of kick off.

Our Chair Keith Winter met with John Nelms last week and once again raised the possibility of introducing eticketing and/or a cash gate. The Trust previously offered to financially support the introduction of eticketing and this remains in place. Positive talks took place with the club on this matter but it appears that current contractual arrangements prevented it from being implemented for this season. On implementing a cash gate there remain some issues to address also, though this will again be followed up.

We appreciate some fans remain frustrated about this option being available in the away end and, when Keith raised this point, he was told that this only happens with clubs who cannot operate any online arrangement. We will continue to explore this issue and willing to help fund a short-term solution for season 2023/24 as it is one of our priorities to make it simpler and more appealing for supporters to attend games.

In our recent proposal to the club we outlined ways we can fulfil our key objectives and hope that the club fully engage with us in taking matters forward. I want to thank all of you who took the time to share feedback on the proposal, the vast majority of which was positive.

All our efforts with the club are geared towards fans receiving the information we believe they deserve. In line with our proposal, we would like a Q&A to take place where supporters’ representatives can ask questions relating to the proposed new stadium development and other matters of concern and interest to Dundee fans. The club expressed a willingness to hold such a forum earlier this year and we hope to bring you news on this shortly.

    Grant Hill,

    Vice Chair
