Dear Members,
Just when it looked as if Dundee had hauled themselves into a decent league position after mounting a great escape in the recent Dens derby, a series of weekend results went against them to leave things looking a little precarious once again. The recent improvement in performances, particularly in an attacking sense, and seemingly in confidence helped them secure a late, late equaliser at home to Hibs, a late winner against a strong Motherwell team and then two even later goals to rescue an unlikely point against the lot across the road. The optimism was surging among the fans to the extent that a trip to Tynecastle to face the league leaders seemed less daunting than it would have earlier in the season.
Sadly a hard-working performance was not enough to prevent a 1-0 defeat to Hearts which, combined with wins for Kilmarnock, St Mirren and the unmentionables, meant that that all-important gap to the second bottom play-off spot was reduced to five points. It’s true that Livingston look doomed and Aberdeen are doing their best to get into the relegation battle but several more points are needed quickly so that we can all breathe a little easier. The pre-split fixtures against Celtic at home and Kilmarnock away are going to be challenging to say the least.

Dee4Life needs you
Aside from on the pitch matters the main focus for this month’s Dee4Life newsletter is to appeal to you as members to step up and play your part in taking the society forward.
Two of our board members stepped down in recent months, including our Treasurer, and one other board member and myself will be stepping down in April.
We know from our recent AGM and SGM that there remains a huge amount of passion and enthusiasm amongst D4L members for the society to continue to serve the wider membership, support the club’s endeavours in whatever way possible and constructively hold it to account where necessary. In many ways we have reached the natural end of a cycle and now is the time for a fresh injection of ideas, skills and experience from new board members to help write the next chapter for D4L.
I can honestly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chair and have had the privilege of meeting and working with some fantastic people who have all had the best interests of Dundee FC at heart. If you would like to get involved please do contact either myself or any of the board members for a chat. Now is the ideal time to get involved and give something back to the club that you love.
Please email contact@dee4life.com to find out more.
SGM Update
I would also like to update you on our recent SGM on February 28 at Dundee Social Club. The meeting was well attended and I am pleased to confirm that the two proposed amendments to the society rules were approved.
It was agreed to reduce the calling notice timescale for Annual General Meetings or Special General Meetings from 56 days to 28 days which is felt to be more practical when invitations are emailed rather than sent by post as they were when the rules were originally written.
Secondly, it was agreed to amend the timescale for submitting resolutions ahead of general meetings from 28 days to 14 days which would still allow plenty of time for resolutions to be circulated in advance.
We also spent some time discussing some potential future paths for the society and there was a strong feeling that D4L still has an important role to play in representing its members and holding the club to account. There have been some clear signs of improvements around the club in recent months and we hope that will continue but there were still reservations being expressed by members as to how the club is being run.
On that note, there is still no sign of a decision being made on the planning application in principle that was submitted for the new stadium or any updates regarding the proposed training facility at Riverside. The longer this runs with silence from the club the more uncertainty there will be amongst the fans. Surely a little communication would go a long way.
As always, I will close by wishing the Dundee players the very best of luck in the coming weeks. Let’s hope they can secure the club’s premiership status with plenty of time to spare.
Keith Winter
Chairman
